Northfork Residence

The Northfork Residence was the first certified Active House in the United States.

With particular attention to comfort, daylight, and the well-being of the homeowner, this home provides a healthy and comfortable indoor environment while mitigating its effects on the climate.

In addition to a comfortable indoor climate, this home was also designed with special attention to the outdoor environment by positioning the home to deliver the most ideal views of the nearby lake and landscape.

In terms of construction and energy usage, this home uses wooden construction with natural thermal insulation. All electricity consumed by this home is generated via the on-site PV plant. Using this energy, heating is provided through air-to-water heat pumps.
